Summer 2017

We hope you are all enjoying the warmer weather and having lots of fun with your pets - big or small. We really look forward to seeing you all this year. We have planned some great schemes in 2017 to help you with preventive health coupled with discounted treatment options. We have a new instalment scheme to assist with major treatments that are suddenly required which will be really helpful for uninsured pets.

We are also going to be launching all-inclusive packages for new kittens and puppies and a scheme with monthly instalments for all preventive health needs, twice annual health checks and discounts on neutering and other treatment requirements.

In the meantime, please enjoy the wealth of information available on our website, and like us on Facebook to keep current with all that is happening at Vetcare. Our latest newsletter will be published soon so watch out for it and the wealth of information therein.

You can now register online or make enquiries through this website. You can also arrange appointments and order repeat prescriptions. Don't forget, you can also contact any of our staff by email by following the links on our staff pages, they will be more than happy to assist with your pet's needs.

Nurse Club of the Month - August 2017- Weight Club

Is your pooch looking a little porky? Or your feline a little flabby? We are very proud of our Weight Club here at Vetcare and the successes we have had with attendees. We see amazing results from it and love to hear our clients tell us that their pet has a new lease of life now that they have shed their excess weight. To come along to see our specialized Registered Veterinary Nurses it is completely FREE of charge – no catches! Simply call your closest Vetcare surgery to book your appointment.

At our WEIGHT CLUB they take various measurements including weight and discuss safe and effective weight loss options, with regular reviews to measure progress against targets.

Our Nurses run a series of Clubs - for new Puppies and Kittens, Junior Pets, Senior Pets, Small Furries, Rabbits. Also a Breeders Club for those embarking on the joys of parenthood,a Diabetes Club, and an Arthritis/Pain Management Club. All our nurse led Clubs are FREE OF CHARGE. Contact us to arrange an appointment.

Veterinary Nursing is a profession in its own right, and our Nurses run clinics daily for dressing changes, physiotherapy, certain vaccinations, post-operative examinations and so on. They do far more in the Practice than you might think, far more than being a Veterinary Surgeon's assistant!

Veterinary HPM Diet

For the optimal health of your dog, cat, puppy or kitten we stock the full Virbac Veterinary HPM Diets. In our opinion this food is better than any other pet food; nutritionally better, superiorly manufactured and amazing value for money. What you feed your pet is the most important thing that contributes to their health, beyond lifestyle and preventative health. You probably take a lot of care with what you eat - why not give the same consideration to your pets?

Veterinary HPM costs about 20% less per day to feed than the best diets sold in Pet Shops and we have a great LOYALTY SCHEME  - for every 5 bags purchased get the 6th same sized bag of the same diet FREE OF CHARGE. And for new Puppies and Kittens - Buy your first bag (400g bag for kittens and 1.5 kg or 3 kg bag for puppies) - and receive your second same sized bag FREE OF CHARGE

The entire range comes with a palatability guarantee. Make a FREE appointment to see one of our Registered Veterinary Nurses to find out more.

Staff News

2017 is busy and we are recruiting a new Veterinary Surgeon to join the team. In the meantime we have one or two of our regular long term locums plugging some gaps. They are great people and exceptional Veterinary Surgeons.

Jessica Whitehead Holmes relocated to the Sale Surgery a couple of months ago and is completing the final part of her Veterinary Nurse Training there. She has settled in well and has received many positive compliments from clients - thank you.

Pauline Ramsay (Client Care Manager), who started with us on 15th May, is settling in well at Leigh and Aleks Trzcinka (Client Care Manager), who started with us on 30th May has been warmly welcomed at Sale. Meanwhile, Gemini Slater (Student Veterinary Nurse), who joined us in April, is excelling in her position at Leigh.

We are also currently recruiting an additional full time RVN (Registered Veterinary Nurse) to join the Leigh Team.

All of our Veterinary Nurses are qualified and registered with the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons.

Star Patient August 2017

Barkley came into our Bolton Surgery feeling very sorry for himself. Vomiting, diarrhoea and abdominal pain can have many causes. Veterinary Surgeon, Neil Taylor, warmly welcomed Barkley and set about bringing him back to health. Barkley was a dream to treat and cure. Welcome to Vetcare.

We see many patients - some with avoidable conditions, some with easy to treat problems and others that require more major investigation and invasive treatment to cure them.

Most cases that we see are interesting and in many we manage to save or extend lives. We like to choose a case each month to tell you about. If you have a pet that you would like to be a 'Star' contact us and let us know. High quality images will be really useful too.

Your story doesn't just need to involve veterinary cases - we are also interested in other tales - who have you rescued and why? How has a pet helped you and your family?

Backhome Microchips

From April 2016 it became compulsory for all dogs to be fitted with a microchip. There are many good reasons to have this done - to help you find your lost pet, prove that they are yours and for the Pet Travel Scheme. New puppies should come with chips, but if not we are here to help.

We can chip dogs, cats, rabbits, tortoises, larger birds - in fact most pets. So what are you waiting for - come and have your Backhome, Biotec Microchip fitted for only £12.50. Call to make an appointment with the Nurse or ask the Vet when you are next at the Surgery. It is a simple and relatively painless procedure that affords your much peace of mind. You would be amazed to know how many pets we have managed to reunite with their owners during the last few years.
